Shannon is Mr. Murphy's elder capuchin monkey. Caesar kills Shannon when Mr. Murphy is about to confront Gran. "Serious and humanized, so small and sad and sweet," the two monkeys are touching and gentle creatures that the sisters consider like the male figures of their childhood.
