Patria is the oldest of the Mirabal sisters and the most religious. Her devotion to her religion catches the attention of the nuns at Inmaculada Conception, and Sor Asuncion tells Patria to watch for God's call to enter the sisterhood. Patria finds her call, however, while washing Pedrito Gonzalez's feet at a religious ceremony..... the couple marries when she is sixteen and quickly have two children, Nelson and Noris.

Patria and her husband become involved in the movement after Patria attends a religious retreat in the mountains, which is attacked and bombed by Trujillo's soldiers. Patria is later killed for her involvement.
