Myles of Olau is the king's adviser and Alan's mentor. He has known for many years that Alan is not a boy, but wants Alan to tell him the truth when s/he is ready. Myles conspires with Jonathan to save Alanna when she is kidnapped by the Duke of Tusaine during the war. He is also the first to give Jonathan and Alanna advice when they seek it.
