What is the theme in The Iliad by Homer?

One of the major themes in the, Iliad, is that of war. Specifically, the celebration of war. Note, that although war is glorified and used as the basis of judging bravery and manhood, Homer does not eliminate the horrors that accompany war such as slavery, rape, and pillage.
