Who is Phoenix from The Iliad and what is their importance?

Phoenix is the son of Amyntor. After he and his father quarrel, Phoenix is taken In by Peleus, who made him the king of the Dolopians. Phoenix assists Peleus in raising his son Achilles and later accompanies him to Troy. Phoenix dies while returning to his homeland.
