Tish's parents meet in Albany. They are at a bus station, and Joseph sees Sharon and knows he cannot let her walk away without talking to her. He approaches her and asks if she is going to the city. When she says she is, he makes up a lie and says he is going to the city to stay with his uncle. His uncle gave him an address, but he is not sure where it is, and is hoping Sharon can help him. When Sharon sees the address she tells him that only white people live in that section of the city. He lies again and says his uncle is white. He buys a ticket on the spot and goes to the city with Sharon. They are married very shortly after.
