Christian symbols and metaphors can be found throughout the text. One example of metaphor is Gareth's plan to become a knight. Gareth believes that his path to knighthood includes experiencing the lowest place in the castle.... the life of a kitchen servant. This metaphorically represents Christ's actions in washing the feet of his disciples.
