Who is Dr. Henry Ogden from Ice Hunt and what is their importance?

Henry is a fifty-year-old American biologist with a background in paleobiology. He has a bald pate and the only hair on his head is a thin brown mustache and a small soul patch beneath his lower lip. Henry is stubborn and cares more about his discovery and the science than he does about his own life. When he hears the Russians are coming, instead of evacuating like he was told to, he stays behind to monitor the thawing of the Grendels he has discovered, unwilling to leave his find to the Russians and willing to bet his life that he can either avoid them or reason with them perhaps. His actions even convince some assistants to stay with them, although it isn't until after the rest have evacuated that they all discover that the Grendels are hibernating, not dead.
