Who is Craig Teague from Ice Hunt and what is their importance?

Craig is the sole survivor of a Cessna crash and is rescued by Matt Pike. He tells Matt he is a political reporter for the Seattle Times and that he was sent to the Ice Station to verify a story that something of importance and world interest has been discovered. His presence is the beginning of a trail of death that begins with the unsuspecting pilot who flew him into the wilds of Alaska. He wears a brand new Eddie Bauer Arctic parka, and looks to be no older than his late twenties. His hands are free of calluses, and his nails are clean and unbroken. He has a studious look and keenly assesses his surroundings. He has cautious and calculating eyes and is working on a need to know kind of environment.
