Who is Bob Martene from I'm with the Band and what is their importance?

Bob Martene was Pamela's first real boyfriend. The couple met at a dance, and although, he dressed the part of a rebel.... Pamela retained her virginity. Bob is later forced to leave and return to New York by his parents, but the couple corresponds regularly. Once the Beatles come on the scene, however, Bob no longer satisfies Pamela's idea of hipness.
