How can I introduce and cite a quote without mentioning the author? (For John Carey) the title of the book is WILLIAM GOLDING THE MAN WHO WROTE LORD OF THE FLIES?

The purpose of citing a quote is to give the author credit. There is not a way to cite something and not mention the author. You can just put quotation marks to show a quote, but if you need to cite it, then you are going to need to mention the author.
