Orestes is the only son to Agamemnon and Clytemnestra, the former of whom is the king of Mycenae and the heir to the House of Atreides. He is brought alongside his mother and Iphigenia to Aulis under the pretense of a wedding, only to see Iphigenia slaughtered at the altar by their father. Upon returning to Mycenae he is kidnapped by Aegisthus’ men, and brought to a prison house where he meets Mitros (Junior) and Leander, the latter of who will for a short time become his lover. After many years in exile, Leander and Orestes return to Mycenae, where Orestes avenges his father’s death by committing matricide – a crime that taints his reputation and villanizes him, for the remainder of his life.
