What is the HMS Atropos in Hornblower and the Atropos by C.S. Forester?

The HMS Atropos is a British warship. The ship is named for the Greek goddess of fate. Throughout most of the novel, Hornblower captains the Atropos. She is later sold to the King of Sicily.
