What is Rakis?

The planet formerly known as Arrakis and colloquially as Dune, Rakis has recovered its desert ecology after Paul-Muad'dib and his son the God-Emperor Leto II, turn it into a lush world, except for a small patch of desert. As a result, the giant worms, called Shai-Hulud or Shaitan, virtually extinct at Leto II's death, have recovered. One gets through water defenses to devour an entire village, and placidly carries the lone survivor, Sheeana Brugh, to the city of Keen (formerly Arrakeen), to live among the priests of the Divided God. Keen exhibits remnants of the monumental architecture of earlier days, but efforts are being made an modernization.
