Bedwyr is a boy, later a young man, who follows Arthur. At the novel's opening, Bedwyr serves his older brother Medrawt as a squire. When he turns about sixteen years old he becomes a warrior in his own right and begins to ride with Arthur and the other men. Gwyna describes Bedwyr as handsome, insightful, and intelligent—but also as a typical man.
