The novel begins with exposition in the first several chapters. This exposition includes the information that a man has unintentionally killed a woman, is burying her body, and is intending to look for a replacement, suggests that Chelsea is in danger. Exposition continues as Morgan and Lance learn that Tim has hired them to find his wife. This exposition includes information about Tim and Chelsea’s home and work lives as well as similar information about Morgan and Lance.
