As a personal memoir, Anais Nin has the ultimate perspective on her own feelings and experiences. Nin runs the gamut of emotions throughout the journal. Regardless of what Nin is feeling, it is almost always extreme in its explanation. Nin also expresses shame and remorse for some of her actions and explores her childhood trauma and how it affected her work and relationships at the time.
