Nin met Miller when he accompanied her lawyer for lunch. When the lawyer left, the two of them became drunk and started to talk about books. Miller suggests that he look over the drafts for her book, but when they are alone, Nin is disheartened by his constant flirting with her. She tries to rebuff him, but he persists, suggesting that he might be in love with her.
