The language used in the novel is essentially simple to understand, with a few notable exceptions. Most importantly, a large number of technical words are used to describe the astronomics of the comet, and the life-forms found within. Each of these terms is explained a number of times in ways that do not disrupt the narrative, and they are used commonly enough that the reader is able to pick them up quickly and easily. This technical language is highly appropriate for the novel, as it is in the domain of hard science fiction which always makes an attempt to keep the science, and the terms related to that science as a result, as real and accurate as possible.
