What does King Tamatoa plan to do about his conflict with the powerful and dangerous high priest in the novel, Hawaii?

Rather than risk letting the high priest sacrifice any more of the king's innocent subjects, King Tamatoa decides to load his ship with 60 men and women from his village, some livestock, and a few carefully chosen seedlings, and sail north with them to found a new homeland.
