Why is it dangerous for Harry to be leaving his uncle's home in the novel, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows?

The protective charm that keeps Harry safe will break either when he turns seventeen or when he leaves his uncle's house for good. Thus, leaving means the charm will break, putting Harry in danger.
