The definition of irony is where you expect one thing to happen and the opposite occurs. This is a complete synopsis of the play, Hamlet. The irony is so thick throughout the entire play that without it the play would not exist. At the end where all of the intended deadly artifacts come into bearing, no one that they were intended for is killed by them.
