Fortinbras and Laertes are parallels to Hamlet. How do these paralles show that Hamlet is a true hero in this play?

Young Fortinbras and, to a lesser extent, Laertes can be seen as character foils to Hamlet. They embody the impulsive rage that Hamlet seeks within himself. I don't think Hamlet considered himself a hero. He felt a coward compared to the reckless might of Yong Fortinbras. I suppose Hamlet is a thinking man's hero: one who can sit and brood upon the travesty of life but certainly not an action hero!
