Chia is a psychologist who has given questionnaires to professional musicians asking them about the importance of effort over talent in musical achievement. While the musicians endorse the idea that effort is more important than natural talent, they tend to say that musicians who are identified as "naturals" are more talented than those who are "strivers" after listening to the same musician play two pieces. This result suggests that people unconsciously believe in raw talent.
