Virtue resides in the mind, though it is unclear whether virtue is qualified by knowledge or by opinion. Thus, if virtue is knowledge, it can be taught. But Socrates cannot find anyone, including Meno, who knows virtue by knowledge. Therefore, if virtue is only known by opinion, then it is intrinsic to good people and cannot be taught.
