Grayson is told from the first person point of view of seventeen-year-old Lynne Cox. The use of pronouns like β€œI” and β€œme” are those that indicate the first person point of view. The point of view works well for this true story as it allows Cox to tell her story in her own words. She is able to describe what she saw, heard, felt and even smelled during her experience with the baby whale. The story would not have the emotional power or believability if it were told from any point of view other than that of the first person.
