One of many protagonists, Blair gets the lion's share of space in this narrative. Though Blair has a lot going for her, since she's pretty, rich, and has been admitted into Yale, she nevertheless is experiencing a harder period in her life because she has lost her boyfriend and best friend in one go. Therefore, her introduction to Lord Marcus seems like a stroke of well-deserved good luck. At the same time, certain characteristics come to the forefront as the novel continues. Blair is an extremely loyal friend, as evidenced by her friendship with Vanessa, which makes Serena's betrayal all the harder to take. At the same time, Blair is hard and can be very cold, dismissive, and ambitious. Not afraid to work for what she wants, Blair gets excellent grades and expects results when she sets her mind on something; again, this makes her rejection for the movie harder for her.
