Archelaus is the son of Perdicas, the king of Macedonia. He was a Macedon king between 413 and 399 BC after the death of Perdiccas II. Archelus murdered his uncle, cousin, and half-brother in order to attain the throne. He was reputed to be a capable ruler, who introduced radical changes in state administration, military, and commerce.
