How does Clifford Odets use imagery in Golden Boy?

Odet uses descritive imagery to paint a picture of the hired thugs, police, or the National Guard.... the groups that were called in to break up strikes, with violence, if necessary. Odets's use of these images and dialogue clearly indicates his intent to send a social message about the labor problems in his time.
