Vucub-Kamé is Hun-Kamé’s twin brother who was born three minutes later. After Vucub-Kamé believed that his brother failed to rule Xibalba properly (and developed bitterness over Hun-Kamé’s inheritance), Vucub-Kamé overthrew his brother, cut him into pieces, and sealed him away with Cirilio’s help. Vucub-Kamé wants the humans to worship him, and believes that Xibalba would be better off if they return to the days of mortal sacrifices. At the end of the novel, when Casiopea wins the race on the Black Road, Vucub-Kamé thinks that he will be killed. However, when Hun-Kamé spares him, Vucub-Kamé returns Hun-Kamé’s eye and the two agree to rule together.
