Gods of Jade and Shadow is told in a third person omniscient point of view. The narrator follows Casiopea most frequently, but will sometimes shift to Vucub-Kamé or Martín, to explain their motives and explore their characters. Due to this, the narrator spends significant time on describing the world and cultures that these characters visit, as well as old beliefs and historical references. Since the narrator is also their own character, this point of view creates the sense that the narrator is telling a story. Therefore, the tone of the novel does not change from chapter to chapter, even when shifting between characters.
