Aníbal Zaval, referred to as Zaval after his initial introduction, is a sorcerer with deep knowledge of Xibalba and the Black Road. he is a servant of Vucub-Kamé who teaches Martín how to navigate the Black Road in preparation for his race against Casiopea. Zaval is also the proprietor of the Tierra Blanca, and it is implied that he flees the hotel after Vucub-Kamé’s defeat.
