Manmata, the god of love, was created by Brahma the creator as a brother to Sandhya. He is sent by Brahma to attack Iswara, the Ultimate God, with his arrows as a matter of revenge. Manmata's arrows have no effect against Shiva, and as a result, when Iswara sees Manmata shooting at him behind a bush, he opens his third eye and reduces Manmata to ashes.
