Who is Persephone from Goddesses in Everywoman: A New Psychology of Women and what is their importance?

Persephone is one of the younger goddesses. She is Demeter's only daughter and is an only child. She is an Olympian. She suffers from being abducted and sadly even raped by the god Hades. This has something to do with older men having decided that she is going to be Hades wife although she had no part in the decision-making process.
