Most of the chapters are told from a first person point of view based on whichever character is named in the title of the chapter. Each of the main characters has the opportunity to express his/her feelings to others and within his/her own thoughts. During some of the characters’ accounts, they give information about what is happening in the present, but each character also, at one time or another, shares flashbacks from the past to help the reader better understand the situation or the feelings that are going on in the present.
