How does the author use foreshadowing in Glory in Death?

In Chapter Twenty, through the climactic ending, the writer keeps Eve and Roarke's relationship very much in focus, foreshadowing what is to come in their life. However, as they walk off together, we are left wondering what Eve's answer will be, consistent with the uncertainty she has felt all along.
