Tests and quizzes symbolize personal solace. For Kim, tests and quizzes are something that is regulated and easy for her to understand in her often-chaotic world. Kim knows that she is a strong student, and to her, school has always made sense. Thus, throughout all of her struggles - some of which are actually related to school - she knows that she always has a world she can understand and thrive.
