Funny Girl is told from the primary perspective of Barbara Parker (aka Sophie Straw). However, the narrator also intervenes and interjects, breaking the fourth wall, to directly address the readers on numerous occasions. The entire book is supposed to give the feel of a biography about the cast and crew of this one television show set in London. The time period is the 1960s.
