Bechdel compares her family to that of Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed in It's a Wonderful Life. She compares her father's home restoration to that of the old mansion in the movie and likewise makes comparisons between Jimmy Stewart's outbursts in the film with her father's volatile temper.
