Who is Kevin Avery [Freak] from Freak the Mighty and what is their importance?

Kevin Avery, also known as Freak, is a twelve-year old boy whose normal-sized head resides over a twisted body that is less than a yard in length. He has many birth defects which will contribute to an early death. The biggest problem is that his organs are growing inside his small body. Kevin has a keen imagination and is very articulate. Kevin represents both courage and creativity. He inspires Max to believe in himself.
