What is the big conflict or problem? What make it so important

Are you referring to the conflict? Max and Kevin, or as Max affectionately refers to him as, Freak have had a long standing friendship since pre-school. Freak’s head is normal sized but his body is small and twisted beneath him. Much of the conflict surrounds their friendship and how they navigate the harassment and social dispersions thrown at them.
