Why does Karkov plan to drive to the front in the early morning hours before the offensive?

Karkov knows of Robert Jordan's mission and inquires into its progress. When he hears of the movement of the fascists, he is aware of the danger of the situation and does not trust anyone with the information. Instead, he drives alone to the front.
