What was Eliade's motive for exposing shamanism?

Eliade's motive behind his work was to expose how all shaman no matter from which area of the globe underwent a similar process. It did not matter where they were from since all shaman went through the same kinds of initiation and reported the same kinds of experience. After they had finished their initiation, they were all able to do the same kinds of things.
