How does Western society regard healers?

Western society regards healers as being medical professionals whom through possession of special knowledge can cure. This is a problem because specialized knowledge is clinical knowledge away from the unfolding drama of each individual unique and particular person. Basically, this is a problem because everyone is not exactly alike, and although it may have been tested, one treatment is not the answer for all people in clinical medicine.
