The climax takes place when the young, Mexican-American boy refuses to leave the Muni Gym (he was told to leave by Dante, the best basketball player), deciding all he really want to do is play. As a result of this decision, Dante allows him to take his place on the court (expecting him to fail), and he gives an amazing, game-winning performance.
