Wil Parrish is a neighbor of Sophie and Fannie's. He talks of the Mexican sunshine and his childhood days with the Seminole Indians. This introduction to Wil's life shows a childhood that was filled with turmoil of losing his parents to slavery. However, he is appreciative to the Seminoles who cared for him. This appreciation shows Wil is a good man, who is kind and grateful for what good he has been given, despite his history as a slave.
