How does Gusslie feel about being in the shadow of Atlantic City's Steel Pier?

Gussie does not enjoy swimming, but she does like to lie in the wet sand in the shadow of Atlantic City's Steel Pier. She likes to be just close enough to the water so that the tiniest ripple of a wave washes over her. She positions herself so that her body rises with the incoming tide and for a moment she feels weightless.
