What happens in the library between Garrett and Bryce?

In the library, Garrett made some disparaging remarks about Juli and her family and about Uncle David. Garret said that he wasn't surprised that Juli had a retarded uncle. Bryce actually felt like punching him out but he thought better of it since they were in the library.
