How does Flash know Crixus in the novel, Flashman & the Angel of the Lord: From the Flashman Papers, 1858-59?

Crixus once hired Flash to deliver an important slave to Canada, and while he botched the assignment, the man gets through and Crixus knows nothing about Flashy's treachery.
