Who is Anthony Williams from the book, Five Days?

nthony Williams is a Black resident of Baltimore. In 2015, Anthony was the general manager of a restaurant called Shake & Bake. Anthony used to struggle with drug addiction, but his work at the restaurant gave him a sense of stability, and helped him maintain consistent sobriety. Anthony worked his way up to the general manager position, and he became invested in community outreach. He made a point of hiring local youths in order to give them structure and income. After the days of unrest following Gray’s death, Anthony organized local processions to inspire a sense of hope in the community. In 2017, the city of Baltimore (who owned the business) closed Shake & Bake due to falling revenue. When the city later reopened it, Anthony was not offered his job back.
